Detroit Pistons Cook Up Andre Drummond All-Star Plea with Obama Rapping "Forgot About Dre"

"Hated on by most these players with no cheese."

And finally, thanks to @Eminem, one last message from President @BarackObama …RT @AndreDrummondd #NBAVotehttps://t.co/Xhx9wyW2nB

NBA PR departments are so thirsty. It feels like your favorite team spends half a year hitting you up, begging you to cast your ballot for who's-his-face. The Pistons, though, are absolutely crushing it with their campaign for Andre Drummond.

The above specimen, for example, is an obvious play on the hilarious image of President Obama rapping to Eminem's "Forgot About Dre," but it's also a more subtle meditation on the institution of democracy. Yes, the NBA All-Stars are chosen by votes, so why not have the No. 1 elected official of the Free World convince you to send Andre Drummond to Toronto's festivities this February?

Speaking of Toronto, the Pistons made another Obama rap earlier this month—this time to Nasty Little York's (yes, it's one of Toronto's nicknames) very own rapper supreme, Drake. It's a play off of his and Future's "Jumpman," and it's also a lot of fun.

Sure, you could say that an Obama mashup is easy—that all his speeches are recorded and transcribed with full public access, or that given the amount of topics the Commander-in-Chief has to cover, you can find just about any word you're looking for—but these are still mashups. We're not talking about fish-in-a-barrel editing stuff, people. "Jumpman" was a solid move, but "Forgot About Dre" is just a stroke of brilliance. Shit, he got my vote.
