Johnny Manziel Fired by Agent Drew Rosenhaus after Coachella Partying

Johnny Manziel can't even get Drew Rosenhaus to represent him.

Johnny Manziel has, in fact, managed to enter rarefied air in sports: not one, but two agents have fired him this offseason. The usual nature of the relationship between athletes and sports agents means that players will generally part ways with their agents, not the other way around. But Johnny Manziel is not at all usual. On March 19th, Drew Rosenhaus officially became Manziel's agent, after his former agent, Erik Burkhardt dropped him in February. Last week—as Manziel was mid-bender in Los Angeles—Rosenhaus started a process he has never undergone in his 27 year career that currently includes representing Greg Hardy: he terminated his relationship with Manziel, but provided a golden parachute. Rosenhaus said the termination would be rescinded and Manziel would be welcomed back on board if he got himself on the straight and narrow within five days. Then Manziel went to Coachella.

Reports from the most lit hive of scum and villainy are exactly what you would expect them to be:

  • "'He arrived wasted, partied wasted and stayed wasted,' a source said."
  • "Scott Disick was hanging with Manziel and Kendall and Kylie Jenner. It appeared as if [Manziel] crashed their table. He poured himself drinks from their bottles."
  • "'He was stumbling as [singer] Post Malone hit the stage . . . He was dancing and sweaty,' we're told."
  • "'He was mostly sitting in a corner with his friends, chain-smoking,' said a spy."

TMZ also has video of him at a bar ordering drinks with fellow founding partner of the Good Decision Gang, Josh Gordon. In a related and not at all unexpected move, Drew Rosenhaus has officially cut ties with him. So, Johnny Manziel is not in a good place. With his violent criminal history and apparent inability to not get shitfaced 24/7, even if he played quarterback like Tom Brady, he might not ever find his way back to a roster. But he doesn't play like Tom Brady. He doesn't even have the professional competency to rationalize even the most unscrupulous of agents keeping him on as a client.
