A few stores have been grabbing headlines in the last few weeks by declaring themselves "Muslim-free." One such shop, known as Save Yourself Survival and Tactical in Oktaha, Oklahoma, was being guarded by a group of self-described "patriots" on Monday, when one of them guards accidentally shot himself. He's OK.

Apparently the unnamed man dropped a gun, and it went off, shooting him in the arm. He was treated for his injuries in a local hospital, but according to the local CBS affiliate, the store had to be closed for the rest of the day.

According to a post on Muskogeenow.com, the hyper-local news site for residents of Oklahoma's Muskogee County, the store owners had begun receiving death threats, after the "Muslim-free" sign was installed, and droves of concerned terrorism-hating civilians poured into town to help.

Muskogee County Sheriff Charles Pearson told the blog that he had seen the would-be vigilantes on patrol. "The way they were holding their weapons, with the fingers on the triggers, you can tell a couple of these gentlemen have no idea about weapons safety," he said. He then compared them to "the Clampetts," a fictional TV family not known for its caution with firearms.

If you're going to be patrolling the area around a gun store for Muslims, a good idea might be to put away your gun for a second, and watch one of the many high-quality basic gun safety videos available on YouTube. Not all firing ranges have the exact same operating procedures, and not all videos are equally useful, but basic information about how to grip a gun, along with Dos and Don'ts for the range are widely available.
