Over $40,000 Worth of Super Bowl Tickets Were Stolen from SF Hotel

Is a Coldplay concert really worth that much nowadays?

KTVU reporter Heather Holmes reported—just a day before kickoff of Super Bowl 50—that over $40,000 worth of Super Bowl tickets were stolen directly out of San Francisco's Hotel Nikko. SFPD informed Holmes that four men entered a conference room, and left with the loot.

Super Bowl 50 tickets are set to be the most expensive tickets in U.S. sports history, according to CNN. The average price is topping out at $4,841. The prior record holder was an average $4,672 ticket for the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, and the average of last year's Super Bowl was $4,271. Tickets on the 50-yard line went for a mind-blowing $20,500 each.

It's unclear how many tickets were stolen, or how the heist was pulled off, but it seems like the thieves are coming away with a huge haul on just a few pieces of paper. You wonder if Coldplay is really worth it.
