The Insane OKC vs. Warriors Game Could Only End on a Ludicrous Note: A Deep Steph Three

Steph Curry with the deep, deep near-buzzer three.

Can you stare me in the face and tell me, honestly, that you were bored watching OKC vs. Warriors tonight? No. No you can't. Why is that? Well, because it was one of the most insane regular season games that you might ever see—that's why. Let's try to break it down for those of you who didn't catch it.

Here's what went down: First, there was the pre-game. There was a lot of chatter about whether or not Curry and the Warriors deserve to be where they were at—a record-breaking 52-5 at the time. Hall of Famers Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Oscar Robertson came out saying that Steph wouldn't be allowed to make the kinds of shots like he does back in their day. Then there was Stephen Jackson, and Cedric Ceballos saying their teams, back in their 90's-00's heyday, could have beaten the Warriors. Whatever.

Plus, there was just the matchup hype in general. Two of the most electrifying offensive teams in the NBA duking it out.

So let's get to the game: you have two super stars (Kevin Durant and Steph Curry) trading shots—with Curry ending on 46 and Durant on 37—an injury scare for Curry, some halftime locker room drama, a late game comeback for the Warriors who were down by 12 in the 4th quarter, overtime forced at the hands of a last second foul on Iguodala and two can't-miss free throws with 0.7 seconds on the clock. (Of course he makes them.) Then overtime, which saw Kevin Durant play hot, then foul out. A few more points, and then, with a tie game and six seconds on the clock, Warriors regain possession—they still have a time out, mind you—and send the ball to Steph for what is one of the most ridiculous game ending deep threes you'll see in a long, healthy minute. Good, good lord. He eats these kinds of shots for breakfast.

Ok, now let's round ourself out to the stats. Curry's, of course. The man beat the NBA season three point record (previously owned by… him) with 24 games to go in the season. He also tied the most three pointers ever scored in a game: 12—he was 12 of 16. The final shot was from 38.4-feet, clocking in with his 35 of 52 (67 percent) shot count on threes from 28 feet or deeper. It's just, all of it, insane. Now let's check in with the haters to see how they feel about that.

Yeah, that just about sums it up.
