Marlins Top Prospect Injures Fellow Top Prospect and Roommate in Knife Prank "Gone Bad"

Can a knife prank really be a prank?

Well this is a new one. The No. 4 prospect in the Miami Marlins farm system, Stone Garrett, was injured by his roommate Josh Naylor, Miami's No. 2 prospect and top pick in the 2015 draft. Garrett, who was placed on the disabled list on Saturday with what was described as an injured thumb, received three stitches to his right hand after some kind of incident with a knife. Marlins president of baseball operations Michael Hill confirmed the news and said they are flying Garrett to Miami to see a hand specialist.

"Naylor has a reputation of being a bit of a prankster, but this one obviously went a little too far," Hill said. "Obviously, he's torn up about it. This is a good friend, his roommate. They came into pro ball together, so they're good friends.
"Hopefully it'll just be a short term and [Garrett] can get back healthy and return to form and continue on his career."

The team does not yet know how much time Garrett will miss, but Hill seems confident that Naylor will leave the knife pranks behind. Which will probably be pretty easy because, off the top of my head, I can't think of a single knife prank.

"I don't think you'll see Josh Naylor goofing around with knives any more. Other pranks were just pranks and nobody got hurt. Unfortunately, this one ended in an injury, which isn't funny at all."

I mean, it is sort of funny. If I had to pick an organization that would find themselves dealing with an injury from a knife prank, I would probably pick the one that is suing its own season ticket holders.
