Friday’s Massive Ransomware Cyberattack Will Probably Get Worse, Experts Warn

This attack is expected to spread on Monday when people return to work and activate their computers, cyber-security experts warned.

A massive cyber-attack infected some 200,000 computers in at least 150 countries Friday with ransomware—malicious software that encrypts the computer's files and demands a payment to regain access to them. The attack was "unprecedented in scale," Europol's chief Rob Wainwright told the BBC.

This attack is likely the most widespread cyberattack ever, and is expected to spread on Monday when people return to work and activate their computers, cyber-security experts warned.
