Cancer, January 2018

There's a full moon in your sign this month, Cancer! Expect things to get intensely emotional.

2018 opens with the lunar spotlight on you, Cancer. On the first day of the month, there’s a full moon— a super moon, to be precise—in your sign! I’m excited for you, dear crab, as this will be a powerful time for you to let go of relationships that are no longer serving you and to reconnect with yourself and your needs.

You’ve been focusing so much on others lately—not just because it’s your nature to protect and nurture, but also because it’s Capricorn season, which means the Sun is illuminating the partnership sector of your chart. This month, Venus, Saturn, and Pluto are all joining the Sun in Capricorn, creating powerful shifts around relationships. Mercury will soon join these planets on January 11, boosting communication between yourself and your partners. But before then, we have the full moon in your sign! Today is all about you: What do you need and, more importantly, what do you need to let go of? Full moons are all about release!

Watch out for January 13, when Mercury will meet Saturn in the sky, indicating that some major decision or commitment will take place. The energy today will be complicated; you’ll be focusing on some very serious issues, and Venus will also clash with electric Uranus, bringing surprises—especially concerning your career or your public life. Expect even more shakeups around these themes when the Sun clashes with Uranus on January 14.

Again: Mercury, Saturn, Venus, and the Sun are all in Capricorn, highlighting your relationships. Are you partnering with people you even want to be seen in public with? You’re no snob, Cancer, but please be real with yourself about whether you would want to bring the people you’ve been partnering with to a work event. If the answer is no, make time to think about what that means.

When Venus and the Sun clash with Uranus mid-month, things will feel out of your control. You’ll want to be able to know that the people you rely on won’t embarrass you and that they can step up and be responsible. If they can’t, you’ll find yourself reaching for what Uranus idealizes: independence. You don’t need anyone to drag you down as you climb toward your professional goals.

You’re no snob, Cancer, but please be real with yourself about whether you would want to bring the people you’ve been partnering with to a work event.

January 15 is another day to watch for. Lucky planet Jupiter, which is currently in fellow Water sign Scorpio, will connect with power planet Pluto—and this connection is sure to be juicy. Jupiter is the planet of growth and expansion, and Pluto rules hidden, valuable assets, so you’re very likely to gain access to influence people or to gain some exclusive, important insight or information. Another day to watch for is January 24, when communication planet Mercury will meet with Pluto, delivering even more intriguing news.

A new moon in Capricorn arrives on January 16, bringing a fresh start to your relationships. New moons symbolize new beginnings, so some new partnerships are likely to form, and you’ll also learn some lessons about fairness and cooperation from old ones.

Intimacy in your relationships will deepen as Aquarius season approaches: Venus enters Aquarius on January 17, followed by the Sun on January 19 and Mercury on January 31. This is a powerful time for processing your emotions and letting go of old baggage. You’re nostalgic as hell, Cancer, but if you’re over-romanticizing the past, cool Aquarius will encourage you to detach from it.

Issues around sex and intimacy will come to the fore; you’ll be sharing deep feelings and secrets with your partners. Aquarius season will also find you dealing with complicated financial issues such as debts, taxes, and even inheritances. This is a good occasion to come up with a plan for tackling any issues you’ve been having with these themes.

Action planet Mars enters Sagittarius on January 26, boosting your energy at work (and helping you find more work, if you need it) and inspiring you to cut off a bad habit or refocus on your health. This is a great time to get reorganized, and to get involved in some kind of physical activity—Mars in Sagittarius needs to move, dance, and get things done, otherwise the energy becomes restless and stagnant.

The month ends with a super moon, blue moon, lunar eclipse in Fire sign Leo, lighting up the financial sector of your chart and asking you if you’ve been investing your money, time, and energy in the right places and people. If not, expect a major shake-up to occur! Shocking news is likely to arrive: Eeclipses reveal things we previously were unable to see. Good luck this month, Cancer, and see you in February!
