NYC-based musician Thaniil Alexandros, aka rbchmbrs, has shared the lead track off his forthcoming Estrella EP, due to arrive by way of acclaimed Washington, D.C. imprint 1432 R. Working in a jungle template, "A'Roving" lasts seven minutes and seems stuck in a loop of anxious, claustrophobic ambiance the whole time. Not without trying, though; filter effects, rhythmic variations, and stop-start programming manage to wrestle with the temporal circularity, knocking it off the tracks every now and then, and adding to the overall sense of tension in the process.

Alexandros gave THUMP some backstory for the idea behind track via email. "I was on the subway thinking about how smartphones are packaged and advertised in such a sleek and clean manner, but in reality most smartphones are hotbeds for germs," he said. "That's probably what the future will look like. We always envision a Jetsons-style, sterile and sleek supercity in our future, but I predict it will be as filthy as the surface of our smartphones."

Future Times affiliated duo Protect-U debuted a new moniker [Ocobaya](harmonically crystalline) [on 1432 R](harmonically crystalline) earlier this year, exploring a discomfiting strand of crystalline techno.

Estrella will be out on digital and 12" formats November 7.
