Oh Sweet American Glory: Young Christian Pulisic Nets His Second Bundesliga Goal in a Week

I mean, I guess that was OK, or whatever—for a tiny wussy American baby man.

Christian Pulisic scores his 2nd career goal one week after his 1st, putting Borussia Dortmund up 2-0 in Stuttgart. https://t.co/74lc2zjsWm

Last week, I begged you to slow the hype train down. Just look at what happened to Freddy Adu!, I said. We've damaged young players too early with undue praise!, I said. Well, now's a slightly more appropriate time to lay off the brakes and let that hype train coast a little bit, because this Christian Pulisic kid is at it again, my friends. And it's a delight to watch.

In today's match between Borussia Dortmund and VfB Stuttgart, 17-year-old Christian Pulisic was hanging in the eaves as his teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan sent in a rocket from the top of the box, only to bounce off of the hands of the Stuttgart keeper. But along came Pulisic—handsome, daring, heroic Pulisic—to poach a shot off the rebound. And how does he celebrate? Casually, coolly. Like he's been there before. This kid may be the makings of the greatest soccer player in the history of the world. I mean, I guess that was OK, or whatever—for a tiny wussy American baby man. (Oh God, Oh God, Oh God….)
