Bart Hernandez, a baseball agent known for representing players who defected from Cuba, was charged with human trafficking by a federal grand jury in Miami today, according to ESPN.

FBI and Homeland Security agents arrested Hernandez today after he was indicted for conspiring with Joel Martinez Hernandez (no relation) and Eliezer Lazo, two convicted Cuban human smugglers. ESPN's sources say that the conspiracy stands in connection with Seattle Mariners center fielder Leonys Martín Tápanes. Joel Martinez Hernandez and Lazo were previously charged with kidnapping and extorting Tápanes in 2013.

Hernandez has also represented Cuban players such as Adeiny Hechavarria of the Miami Marlins, Jose Abreu of the Chicago White Sox, and Jorge Soler of the Chicago Cubs.
