Canadian singer and Def Jam phenom Alessia Cara, a charming first date, was the musical guest on last night's Saturday Night Live. She performed a breathless "Scars to Your Beautiful" before composing herself for a stripped-down performance of lovely ballad "River of Tears."
The performance was the realization of a childhood dream for Cara. She told Jimmy Fallon on Friday night that she'd visited 30 Rock as a drama student in high school, dreaming of one day appearing on SNL. "I got in and I was like this is crazy, and I stood on your like monologue mark, and I was like, 'I'm going to be here one day,'" she said. "And the tour guide was like, 'Okay, keep going, move along.'"
