DeMarcus Cousins Doesn't Understand What the Kings are Doing

The Kings are a pretty mystifying team, even to DeMarcus Cousins.

The Sacramento Kings are a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma shrouded in Vlade Divac cigarette smoke. Their methods rarely make sense to analysts, to fans, and occasionally even their own players.

Count All-Star big man DeMarcus Cousins among the mystified. Boogie may be training with Team USA at the moment, but he isn't shying away from answering questions about Sacramento's recent draft. Per ESPN: "I can't control [the draft decisions]. I control what I can control. I don't really understand it, but I do my job."

The Kings shocked many observers last month by selecting Greek center Georgios Papagiannis with the No. 13 overall pick. Not only was he projected to go much lower in the draft, but the Kings are already stacked with big men like Willie Cauley-Stein, Kostas Koufos and…Cousins. Then they doubled-down by taking center/forward Skal Labissiere at No. 28.

Immediately after the Papagiannis selection, Cousins took to Twitter:

Lord give me the strength
— DeMarcus Cousins (@boogiecousins) June 24, 2016

He would go on to attribute the tweet to frustration with his hot sculpting class. Yoga gets on Boogie nerves sometimes; who are you to argue?

Regardless, Boogie has now made his opinions crystal clear. He didn't understand the Kings' draft. That's not a great statement of confidence from your franchise player, who averaged a career-high 26.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists last season. Cousins earned his second trip to the All-Star Game and was named All-NBA second team; if you're the Kings, and you're hoping to contend, he's the kind of player you'd like to have on your side.

All he can do is put in the work, first for America and then for Sacramento. But if this keeps up, the "DeMarcus Cousins trade rumors" Google search page will continue to grow exponentially.
