Fan Fell from Stands in Fight During NBA Finals Game 7, Father Says He Was Thrown

A fan fell over the railing from the second deck at Oracle Arena during Game 7 and suffered a skull fracture and broken ribs.

At the end of Game 7 of the NBA Finals at Oracle Arena, a fan fell from the second deck of the stands during a fight with another fan. It's unclear how the fight started, but the fan who fell—who has since been identified as Salvador Bimbo, a father of two in his 20s—suffered serious injuries and remains hospitalized in critical condition after surgery yesterday.

Salvador is a Warriors fan from Southern California and his father, Ronnie, bought him the tickets to the game. His father also spoke with KPIX in San Francisco, filling in some details of the episode.

The family told KPIX 5 a fight broke out between Warriors fans and Cavs fans just as the game ended.

Sal, who his father described as mild mannered, was caught in the middle of the melee.

Ronnie said Sal was thrown by a Cavs fan from the second-level deck over the railing 50 feet down.

Ronnie found out about his son's injuries with a phone call from the hospital.

Sal suffered from a fractured skull and three broken ribs.

"He was very, very critical and I was afraid of the next word they were going to tell me," remembered Ronnie. "He has a long road ahead of him."

One witness claims to have seen blood coming out of his ears when he fell.

Salvador was at the game with his 12-year-old brother. Police are still investigating the incident—reviewing security footage from Oracle Arena as well as any photos and videos Salvador took with his phone during the game—and looking for the suspect.
