Again. What happened: A House of Representatives committee will vote today on whether to send a resolution to the House floor that would block a Washington DC "death with dignity" law. The law, signed in December by DC mayor Muriel Bowser, would allow terminally ill people to end their lives with the help of a physician. (California, Colorado, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington state have similar laws.) House Oversight Committee chairman Jason Chaffetz, who's also an anti-choice zealot, has called the law "misguided" and immoral. Congress can invalidate DC laws with a resolution of disapproval but it hasn't done so since 1991. The Associated Press says there's no indication that the Senate would take up the measure.
