Hear the First New Track from Gregg Allman's Posthumous Album

"My Only True Friend" is a final ode to the road.

Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers Band died of complications related to liver cancer back in May. He was 69. But naturally, he left some music behind to say his goodbyes the best way he knew how. That music forms Southern Blood, the final LP he recorded with his touring band. Released September 8, it also features guests Jackson Browne, The McCrary Sisters, Buddy Miller, and Greg Leisz.

Today you can hear the first track from that record, "My Only True Friend." 'The road' has long been part of Allman's mythology, and the track, on which he decrees that the road is his only true friend, is a bittersweet farewell to a constant in his life.
