Ital Tek Brings Aching Beauty and a Classical Sensibility on New Album

Hollowed is the UK producer's first album since 2012.

As previously reported by THUMP, Ital Tek has been preparing to drop a new album. And now it's here.

Hollowed, the fourth studio album from UK producer Alan Myson, takes the dubstep-futursism SP of his previous work and fleshes out a bigger, more expansive sound, as though the producer were conducting an electronic music orchestra. The beats are still there, but they now weave in and out of Myson's compositional movements and suites that all but leave his dance roots behind. Hollowed is not a major step forward in Myson's career, but easily his best release yet.

In a press statement, Myson noted: "I wanted to [move] away from dance music and letting sound inhabit a space without shoving everything at the listener in the first few bars." The producer notes that a large influence on the record was the contemporary Polish classical composer Henryk Gorecki: "[Seeing] Henryk Gorecki's Symphony No 3' being played live, starting very small and soaring, then returning to stillness…" greatly impacted the musical direction Myson chose to take.
