Ireland Beat Italy to Advance to Round of 16

Ireland are through to the round of 16 on a wonderful goal in the final minutes against Italy.

Ireland needed a win against Italy to advance in Euro 2016. They sweated it out for 85 minutes before finally getting a goal and the lead on a scoring opportunity that almost appeared out of thin air. As Ireland moved quickly to force the action, Wes Hoolahan—who missed a golden opportunity for a goal minutes earlier—sent a curling cross from about 30 yards out right to the middle of the goal box and Robbie Brady got on his horse to put his head on the ball and snapped it down into the goal.

The header was great, but the cross from Hoolahan was nearly perfect, splitting the keeper and the defender trying to keep track of Brady. Brady became the youngest player to score for Ireland in the Euro and kept their tournament alive. Ireland finished third in the group and now go on to play France in the knockout stage.

Meanwhile, 16 seconds apart, Belgium scored to knock Sweden out and end Zlatan's international career. They finished second to Italy and will play Hungary. Italy, winners of the group, get to play Spain.
