Democrats Are Filibustering Over Gun Control Right Now

It looks like they want to amend a bill to include a section that would make it illegal for terror suspects to buy guns.

Strap in everyone! It's a filibuster—the car chase scene of the American legislative process!

Democrats in the Senate began a pro-gun control filibuster on Wednesday afternoon. According to Politico, the whole thing started with Chris Murphy of Connecticut saying he'll "remain on this floor until we get some signal, some sign that we can come together on these two measures, that we can get a path forward on addressing this epidemic in a meaningful, bipartisan way." Then Murphy was joined members of his party.

The debate in progress was ostensibly over a spending bill, and at press time, it looked like Democrats were trying to amend that bill to include a section that would make it illegal for terror suspects to buy guns.
