Reggie Jackson Hand Delivers Signed Ball to Fan Hit by Bat

A woman got hit by a flying bat during a spring training game and got to keep the bat as well as a signed ball hand-delivered by Reggie Jackson.

Jose Lobaton lost the handle on a swing during a spring training game against the Yankees and his bat went flying into the stands behind the New York dugout. At least one woman was hit by the bat and received some medical attention on the scene, but the Yankees know how to run a business: give the people what they want. And most of the time what the people want is free shit.

After checking with the Nationals, Joe Girardi told security to let the woman keep the bat. There was much rejoicing.

But he wasn't finished. Girardi then enlisted Hall of Famer and one of his special spring training fan draws instructors, Reggie Jackson, to sign a ball for her.

Mr. October didn't just sign the ball, though, he climbed into the stands and hand delivered the souvenir to the woman, who was very appreciative.

So this woman was sitting in the sun in Florida, probably enjoying a nice cocktail or two, and got a free bat and a ball signed by Reggie Jackson. All she had to do was get hit by a flying piece of lumber. Seems unfair, really. Most of us have never even been in the same section as someone who got hit by a bat. Maybe you were lucky enough to get some beer spilled on you, but no one ever delivered a signed ball for that. Certainly not a Hall of Famer like Reggie Jackson.
