Let Empress Of's Two New Tracks Take You Someplace Else

"Trust Me Baby" and "In Dreams" address common frustrations, but are elevated by Lorely Rodriguez's distinctive sound.

It's midweek, you're at work – maybe you've been stood up behind a counter or in a kitchen for hours, maybe you're pretending to type stuff on a laptop but have actually just been making Mark Zuckerberg memes all day – or studying, idly flipping through books at some desk, somewhere. Regardless of what you're doing, however, you would probably much rather be basking in sun, floating on your back in the sea, or leaning, just so, over a little balcony, perhaps drinking the sort of sugary, brightly-coloured beverage that might warrant a tiny, festive cocktail umbrella, wouldn't you?

Here, then, are two new Empress Of songs, which might be able to at least psychically transport you to somewhere calm and warm, even if just for the brief moments while they're playing. "Trust Me Baby" and "In Dreams" are two brand spanking tracks from Lorely Rodriguez, both of which feature her singing in English and Spanish, and both of which are subtly sunny and atmospheric.

What's particularly special about these songs, and about Empress Of in general, is her ability to craft a distinctive sound and voice which feel uniquely and consistently appealing. Even when she's talking about relationship discord and loneliness – as on these two tracks – she imbues them with a romance that elevates them beyond everyday frustrations. That's why these new songs offer the perfect, low-key escape from mundanity, regardless of what yours might be. Close your eyes and listen below:
