Donald Trump Won't Fill Out Bracket for NCAA Tournament

Another Obama tradition goes the way of the dodo.

Back in the halcyon days of literally, like, four weeks ago, when the country was not tumbling into chaos, ESPN floated the idea of Donald Trump continuing President Barack Obama's NCAA bracket tradition. Each year, Andy Katz would show up in the Oval Office and the two would hash out a bracket, like millions of regular Americans. Word just came down today that Trump will not be following in President Obama's footsteps.

The network recently received word that Trump has passed. An ESPN spokesman said in a statement: "We expressed our interest to the White House in continuing the presidential bracket. They have respectfully declined."

White House spokeswoman Hope Hicks said in an email to The Washington Post: "We look forward to working with ESPN on another opportunity in the near future." Neither the White House nor ESPN had any details on what other opportunities might lie down the road.

Sad!

This is probably good news for folks looking to Trump for any sort of guidance, though. President Obama was a big sports fan, especially basketball, so he had something to bring to the table. Trump seems like he could be into baskets and/or balls, but outside of golf he's not super into sports. Which is fine! Right now he should have more important things to do.
