HATCHAM SOCIAL
PHOTO: JONNIE CRAIG
STYLING: RICHARD SIMPSON   Hatcham Social are brothers Toby and Finn with their friend David on bass. Their new song, “So So Happy Making”, was produced by Faris Badwan and is one of the best things we’ve heard all year. Jonnie Craig shot the band wearing weird prosthetic facial features in front of a giant sheet of BacoFoil. Most groups are usually an awkward nightmare when you ask them to do things like that, but this lot were totally fine with it.

DIRTY MONEY
PHOTO: GAVIN WATSON
STYLING: MISCHA NOTCUTT   Dirty Money are a London-based band who play 80s-inspired hardcore punk that manages to sound like all the right bits of Negative Approach being played by the Cro Mags. Their debut seven-inch was one of the only good things to come out of a London hardcore scene that is currently about as vital as England’s contribution to world football. Gavin Watson shot them at their house in London.

HEARTBREAK

PHOTO: JAMES PEARSON-HOWES

STYLING: JEMMA SAWYER   London electronic disco duo Heartbreak are kind of how the 80s would sound today if the 90s hadn’t got in the way. Singer Sebastien Muravchik, a one-time soap star in Argentina, and Ali Renault’s dramatic synth anthems can be heard on the upcoming “Regret” EP for Lex. James shot Sebastien in his house in East London and said: “He was a little bit stiff because he’d never had any photos done before but he kept saying, ‘I love this outfit – it’s a dream, it’s a dream!’”

Andreas wears black shirt by Diesel, army green T-shirt by Sixty, jeans by Lee, shoes and scarf model’s own. Æsa Saga wears blouse from Stine Goya, jeans by Edwin, hat by Ophelie Hats at Urban Outfitters, shoes and necklace model’s own. Gudmundur wears coat from Energie, shirt from Cheap Monday, jeans, T-shirt, shoes and glasses model’s own.

EXPLODING HEART

PHOTO: BEN RAYNER

STYLIST: MILENE LARSSON   Exploding Heart are a new band from Stockholm who make really pretty, melancholic songs about heart break and the like. Ben Rayner shot them in a town called Jönköping which is the Bible belt of Sweden. He said: “After the shoot we ate a weird Swedish pizza with kebab meat on it. One of the guys kept talking about gambling and doing crazy amounts of cocaine. The amounts he was talking about made me think he’d never actually done any. Nice guys, though.”

TODDLA T

PHOTO: BEN RAYNER

STYLIST: JEM GOULDING   Prancehall first told us about Toddla T a couple of months ago in the Do It! column. From Sheffield, Toddla produces hard, electronic dancehall that’s making the people who own all the Fabric CDs very excited. He was shot at our London office in Leonard Street and wasn’t shy about stripping down to his boxers in front of all the girls who work downstairs.
