Pittsburgh Offensive Line Coach Mike Munchak Penalized for Pushing Bengals Player

Mike Munchak shoved Bengals safety Reggie Nelson and pulled his hair.

Thanks to the Steelers and Bengals, we get to say the phrase that only ever gets used in sports: It's getting chippy out there. The game was already getting physical, but now—a little over two years after Mike Tomlin was fined $100,000 for trying to interfere with Baltimore's Jacoby Jones during a kickoff return—the Steelers have drawn up some more sideline shenanigans.

Bengals Safety Reggie Nelson forced Jordan Todman out of bounds and it may have looked like a late hit, but Todman was still in bounds when Nelson shoved him. Todman went crashing into the bench and Nelson collided with Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak. It looked like Munchak was trying to brace himself by grabbing onto Nelson at first, but he also got a hold of his dreads and whipped him around after Nelson made contact. Maybe he was upset at what he thought was a late hit, maybe he was a little annoyed by getting hit himself. Whatever it was, he wasn't happy.

Here's the full play:

There was a minor scrum after the incident and eventually the referees sorted it all out, assessing a 15-yard usportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Steelers for Munchak's shove/hair pull.

Midway through the second quarter, we are still scoreless.
