DeAndre Jordan Denies Minnesotans Free Ice Cream

DeAndre Jordan came close to giving Timberwolves fans free ice cream, but shut them down late in the game.

The Minnesota Timberwolves run a promotion that promises free frozen yogurt (ice cream would be better, though, we agree) for fans at the game if an opposing player misses two consecutive free throws in the fourth quarter. Last night, DeAndre Jordan and the Los Angeles Clippers were in town. Jordan is a notoriously awful foul shooter and teams often employ the hack-a-Shaq strategy against him late in games to preserve time and limit scoring as they try to mount a comeback. With two and a half minutes left in the fourth quarter, Minnesota trailed L.A. by 16. You can see where this is going. Free food.

The Timberwolves hack-a-Shaq'd Jordan, who is shooting just over 42 percent from the line, and gave him eight free passes at the charity stripe in the latter stages of the game. Much to their chagrin, he shot ten-for-16 in those chances. Still, he came tantalizingly close to providing the free snack and when he missed his first shot, the crowd went nuts. Unfortunately, Jordan came back and hit all nylon on his second attempt, and there would be no free fro-yo.

After burying it, he ran back to the defensive end and yelled, "No fucking ice cream, goddammit!"

"Sometimes, I'm in a giving mood," Jordan said after the game. "Tonight, I was not."

The Clippers beat the Timberwolves 119-105.
