Argentine Coach Involved in Fistfight With His Own Fans at Petrol Station

It can only be a matter of time before a Premier League boss sees one homemade protest banner too many and goes swinging into the crowd like a loon

Having seen their team take two points from the opening five games of the Argentine Primera Division, it's understandable that Sarmiento fans aren't pleased at the moment.

Under the guidance of journeyman manager Ricardo Caruso Lombardi, the side from Junín have shipped seven goals and scored only two in a winless start to the campaign. While Lombardi's popularity was already dwindling at an alarming rate, last weekend's 1-0 defeat to league leaders Rosario Central has really brought things to a head.

In England, that might mean a few chants from the crowd and an angry exchange with Robbie Savage on 5 Live; in Sarmiento, it's led to a fisfight between fans and the manager on the forecourt of a local petrol station. Yeah, things have officially gone "off the hook".

According to PlayFutbol, a verbal altercation between fans and players after the match descended into a scuffle by the petrol pumps. Lombardi waded in and ended up exchanging punches with supporters. He's since told TYC Sports: "I went crazy".

There's little doubt in our minds that, before long, a Premier League manager will see one home-sewn protest banner too many and completely lose his rag in a similar fashion.

Until that time, here's some footage of Lombardi's scrap with the fans to keep you occupied.
