Yoenis Cespedes Drove This Coffin-on-Wheels to Spring Training

Very cool looking, even if you might die if you run into a telephone pole. Or anything else.

Swag much? Yoenis Cespedes rolled into #Mets camp this morning driving THIS. pic.twitter.com/Y3rYf8fzVZ

Back in September, we learned that Yoenis Cespedes was not just a cigar-smoking, golf-obsessed slugger that helped turn around the Mets season. He was that, but Cespedes also liked designing car-motorcycle hybrids like the one you see above. Per Mets beat writer Anthony DiComo, Cespedes reported to Mets Spring Training in this very flashy Polaris Slingshot, a vehicle that looks like something from the not-too-distant future. It's not the same one he helped design in the reports from September, but it's similar. It also seems like you're taking your life in your hands if you drive one of these things on a highway. Good luck on any run-ins with a Rav-4 in that thing.

According to the manufacturer's website, the vehicle is street legal in Florida, but it has to be registered as a motorcycle, requiring the driver to also have a three-wheeled motorcycle license. However, according to TMZ at the time of the original Nolan-era Batmobile reports, Cespedes was prevented from driving the car he designed under his contract. Cespedes has since signed a new contract with the Mets, so it's possible he was able to avoid having a similar clause in his current deal. Otherwise, it would be a pretty silly move to show up to your place of employment in direct contravention of his contract. Although, maybe the Mets just won't notice. It's a pretty inconspicuous ride.
