Watch the First Trailer for 'X-Men: Apocalypse'

It looks like the latest installment of the franchise will continue the 'Days of Future Past' tradition of not sucking.

Remember all those terrible mid-2000s X-Men movies? The first one was good, the second one was OK, but then came the heinous X-Men: The Last Stand and that Origins movie about Wolverine, and things looked pretty bleak. But now we don't have to think about those movies ever again, since Bryan Singer mercifully pulled some time-travel shit with Days of Future Past and created this whole separate timeline where The Last Stand never happened.

The trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse—the next movie in Singer's new, parallel X-Men universe—dropped on Friday, and it looks like it'll continue the Days of Future Past tradition of not sucking. The plot revolves around the ancient blue badass Apocalypse, played by Oscar Isaac, who was (arguably) the first mutant ever and played god to ancient civilizations way back in the day. Now he's reemerged in the 1980s to team up with Magneto and other bad guys to try and live up to his name.

Watch the trailer above, or just re-watch the latest Star Wars trailer and think about how Oscar Isaac is about to be a nerd god with his Force Awakens and X-Men: Apocalypse one-two punch.
