As if Roberto Aguayo's NFL Preseason Struggles Weren't Bad Enough, His Younger Brother Just Broke His College Record

Younger brothers are so annoying.

Few kickers in college football history can boast of a resume like that of Roberto Aguayo. The former Florida State Seminole finished his career in Tallahassee as the most accurate kicker in ACC history, and third all-time in NCAA history. He won the Lou Groza Award as the NCAA's best kicker as a freshman.

But Roberto is no longer the collegiate kicker in the Aguayo family. He was taken by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft—the highest spot for a kicker in more than a decade—and he's been replaced at Florida State by his younger brother, Ricky. The freshman wasted no time wiping one of his bigger bro's records off the FSU books, kicking six field goals in the Noles' 45-34 season-opening win over Ole Miss. Roberto's personal best had been five.

Roberto Aguayo never made 6 FGs in a game. His little brother Ricky just broke the FSU record by kicking his 6th in his first game.

So young Ricky took down one of Roberto's team records in his first game…big deal, right? Roberto still holds plenty of kickin' records at the old alma mater. But this all comes at a rough moment in his nascent pro career.

Not only does Roberto have to deal with the pressure of living up to an absurdly high draft position (for a kicker, at least), he has been fighting a serious case of the yips. Roberto missed his first kick in the preseason, an extra point. He had never missed a single extra point in three years at Florida State. Then he missed two field goals last week against Jacksonville, one from 32 yards. He had never missed a field goal inside of 40 yards in college, either.

C'mon, Ricky: throw your big bro a bone here. Bucs fans are already worried they wasted a high pick on Roberto; now they are wondering if they drafted the wrong Aguayo.
