Ok, guys, let's slow down the hype train right here. We've had our Freddy Adu's in the past—long overdue "the future has arrived," up-and-coming spark of tinder-to-become supernova promising young hopefuls for the U.S. Men's National Team—and we've all seen how those went. So let's just slow our roll about Christian Pulisic, take a deep breath and… oh good God was that a smooth goal from the 17-year-old midfielder.

Pulisic, considered to be the top youth prospect for the USMNT, tore through the ranks of Borussia Dortmund's youth academy and was promoted to the senior team over this past winter break, making seven appearances for the No. 2 team in the Bundesliga to date. Well, none will be more heralded by USMNT fans than today's match against Hamburger SV, as Pulisic found himself in a tight gap between defenders and fired off a singeing near-post stunner with lightning-quick reaction time.

It was a peach of a goal. I wouldn't go around throwing out the words "a star is born," but for the ever-fraught USMNT the future seemed for a second, in the 38th minute, to be a little less dim.

UPDATE:

Speaking of young promising Americans scoring overseas, Gedion Zelalem—loaned out to Rangers by Arsenal—scored a PK to help the Rangers deal Celtic a loss. Not a crazy goal to celebrate, but we'll take it.
