Tee Mango makes t-shirts under the guise of his company Millionhands. These are really cool t-shirts for world-class dance labels like Phantasy and International Feel, and in some cases for house music itself. These are not the kind of label shirts that turn into a dish rag after one wash cycle; these are the real thing. The house music that Tee occasionally releases on some of the world's best imprints is the real thing, too. Following his seriously acclaimed album Imperfections Vol. 1—a masterclass in subtle sample-based house music fawned over by Gilles Peterson and Bonobo—Mango has a new EP coming out on Aus Music.
Simply titled EP#1, the record thrives on a vibe that's cozy and unpretentious—it's full of warm drums, butter knife chopped samples, and smoky synth lines that sneak down into your innards. "I write a lot of music," says Tee to THUMP over email. "I've realized over the years, that for me the best way to get the good stuff is to just write and write and write. 'This is where I'll stay (with you)' came together pretty quickly as most of my stuff does. It's based on fucking amazing sample of a tune I heard on a mix a while back and hunted down. The music has a hazy feeling and I'm a romantic, so I wanted the titles on the EP to tell a story of hedonistic love." What more can we say? Dive on in below.
