A match made...somewhere.

If you were to match a particular coach to a particular candidate in the Carnival of Sadness that is this year's Republican Primary, you could not get much more on the nose than Rex Ryan and Donald Trump. Maybe Belichick and Ted Cruz, but I think Ted is less publicly in favor of eating small babies, so we'll go with the Ryan/Trump ticket.

Today was the first day teams began reporting back to their facilities this offseason and Rex, playing to type, opened things up with a bang.

Rex and the Donald share a love of bombast and flair, and they are easily the loudest men in whatever room they find themselves in, so it's not surprising that Rex would get on board the Trump Express. He isn't announcing a full endorsement of Trump, however, he only said he was going to introduce him before a rally at the First Niagara Center tonight, ahead of tomorrow's New York primary. Ryan declined to get into who he was endorsing, but he did mention that he was a Chris Christie supporter before he dropped out of the race because they both had lap band procedures. So…Trump's getting a good one.

Politics, the saying goes, makes for strange bedfellows, but I do hope fellow Trump loyalist Tom Brady sends Rex a nice Make America Great Again hat.
