Kyle Lowry Drains Miraculous Halfcourt Buzzer Beater to Send Raptors-Heat into Overtime

But Toronto lost Game 1. Again.

Kyle Lowry had a bad game. The Raptors had a bad second half. But all was almost forgotten when Toronto's All-Star point guard hit a miraculous game-tying prayer from halfcourt at the buzzer to force overtime.

The Raptors had a chance to do it again in overtime, finding themselves down three points with possession and 11 seconds left, but DeMar DeRozan lost control of the ball and Dwyane Wade capped a big performance with a steal and three-point play to ice the game. Wade had 24 points, while backcourt mate Goran Dragic poured in a game-high 26.

Toronto dropped Game 1 of its Eastern Conference second-round matchup with the Heat, 102-96. The Raptors shot 23.8 percent from beyond the arc and were held to six points in overtime.

Lowry's heroics temporarily masked yet another poor shooting performance. After shooting 31.6 percent from the field in Toronto's seven-game series victory over the Pacers in the opening round, Lowry was 3-of-13 and missed 6-of-7 shots from long range. He was held to seven points on the night, and under 40 percent shooting from the field for the eighth consecutive playoff game.

The Raptors, who advanced to the second round for the first time since 2001, lost their fifth consecutive Game 1 at home. Ugly stuff.

They'll look to even the series Thursday night at the Air Canada Centre.
