The Guy Who Got Electric Zoo 2013 Shut Down Just Got Caught

And there are some incriminating text messages too.

As we know, Electric Zoo 2013 was shut down early when two attendees, Olivia Rotondo and Jeffrey Russ, passed away after overdoses. Yesterday, 11 months after the festival, the dealer who authorities suspect sold Russ a fatal ecstasy-like substance was arrested on federal drug charges, according to CNN. Patick Morgan of upstate New York faces posession, distribution and conspiracy charges and a series of text messages between him and Russ make the evidence fairly compelling.

According to court documents, one of Russ's friends sent Morgan an alarmingly dispassionate text that read: "Hey it was great to see you last week. Glad we got to talk about Jeff a little it was bugging me. Just know that I no longer blame u for giving the molly to him because it was him that made the mistake of taking too much."

In acknowledgement, Morgan reportedly responded: "Yeah man u too call me whenever you want."

Authorities allege Morgan sold about 80 tablets to one Russ's acquaintances for $1100. Morgan also faces charges for selling to the same group of people at a show in Buffalo a few weeks before EZoo.

At the time of his death, officials found pills containing MDMA and methylone on Russ. Methylone, commonly referred to as molly, is a stimulant that mimics the effects of MDMA. Because it's cheaper, it's often used as an additive to MDMA sold in pill form. Even when ravers think they are taking the drug correctly, the variability of quality in a pill of molly can cause unregulated spikes in body temperature. After suffering a seizure, Russ's body had risen to 108 degrees before he passed away.

Electric Zoo returns to New York later this month, with increased saftey measures including drug-sniffing dogs and more undercover law enforcement along with increased drug education.
