This April's London Electronic Music Event (LEME) Looks Awesome

Artists, label-owners and more, on hand to give advice about the dance music industry.

The music industry is a pretty daunting place, especially if you're on the periphery looking in. It can seem as though everyone is so comfortable and established with their roles; whether it's producing, DJing, promoting, running a record label, or any one of the cogs that keep the scene turning. The reality behind that though, is there isn't really one big secret to becoming successful.  Some people will tell you it's through following their passion, others will put it down to years of hard work, or that they were just in the right place at the right time.

One thing that is always useful though, is hearing other people's experience. Getting knowledge from people who've been there, and done it. Now in it's third year, the London Electronic Music Event (LEME) gives you a chance to hear from some of the top players in the music industry; through a range of pretty fascinating sounding lectures, workshops and discussions. Taking place at the Rich Mix studios in Bethnal Green, from the 12th-13th April, it's an opportunity for anyone who's got an interest in music to learn about the industry.

Legowelt, Kris Wadsworth and Neville Watson have just been announced as some of the first speakers, but "speakers" might be slightly the wrong term to use. This isn't going to be boring lectures. LEME are getting hands on. As well as talks on 'The Role of The Record Label Today', 'Crate-Digging and the Resurgence of Vinyl' and 'Club Nights: How to Thrive and Survive', Neville Watson will be bringing his core production kit into a studio set up to give attendees a chance to see him in action, and Legowelt will be joined by CDR's Tony Nwachukwu for an in-depth Q&A. Towards the more business end of the scope, there will be sessions with talking heads from Defected Records, Hypercolour, XOYO, Rubadub, and Ableton are set to bring secret guests to showcase their latest controller.

The first evening will also see a live performance from Legowelt and, on the Sunday night, there's an after-party planned at Plastic People, Shoreditch.
