Michael Young Nearly Clocks Clown-Masked Elvis Andrus Because Clowns Are Scary AF

Elvis Andrus decided to man up and later apologized for exploiting Young's greatest fears.

Yesterday was Michael Young's big day. The third baseman was being inducted into the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame and was rolling around the infield on a very-Texas pickup truck with his kids, when someone decided to ruin the moment by living out Young's worst nightmares. That someone was Elvis Andrus.

There's all kinds of talk that goes on at dugout slumber parties: your first kiss, who your main crushes are, your biggest fears. Well, Young must've told Andrus that he was terrified of clowns, because Andrus knew just how to push Young's buttons. Why you gotta exploit Young's feelings on his big day like that, man?

And because clowns are scary as fuck, Young understandably cocked his fist back and tried to clock the man. Later, when he was in the commentary booth, he could have a laugh about it, saying,

"I was cocked and ready," Young said. "So the backstory is that I just have a severe distaste, and distrust and clowns are a bad thing; you want nothing to do with them. It's not the most rational thing in the world, but we just don't jive very well."

Technically, it was a jigsaw mask from "Saw"—not a clown—but close enough. Either way, Elvis Andrus decided to man up and apologize for exploiting Young's greatest fears.

Congrats Michael on an amazing career and thanks for making things easy for me and everybody around u #sorryforthemask #rangersman #captain #hof #thebest

Keep that man away from the circus.

Correction:

Apparently, there are a lot of horror movie fans out there who have kindly corrected me that it is a Billy the Puppet Mask—not Jigsaw mask—from Saw. So sorry for the confusion. Troll along. Nothing to see here.
