Deadmau5 is Back at XS Las Vegas (and We're Fucking Excited)

The irreverent Mr. Mau5 is taking over Avicii's April gig, which has been postponed.

The drama surrounding DJ residencies at Las Vegas's premiere nightclubs continues this week, as Deadmau5 has announced that he'll be taking over Avicii's postponed April gigs at XS. Deadmau5, a former XS resident, last appeared at the Wynn holding in November, when he terminated his contract with MGM's megaclub Hakkasan and performed an impromptu opening set for Wolfgang Gartner. In January, when Hakkasan rolled out its roster of regular DJs for 2014, Deadmau5 was not on the list—and now it seems he's considering reigniting his relationship with XS, his homebase prior to his ill-fated stint with Hakkasan. His regular at XS there, which took place in 2011, was called Unhooked in reference to him performing without his trademark mouse head. The sets were known for being unpredictable, wild, and far from the boilerplate EDM that gets high-rollers to empty their pockets on bottles.

The Mau5 is slated to perform at XS on April 25, which will round out a month of impressive lineups. Other talents on the schedule for April include Wolfgang Gartner, Diplo, Zedd, and RL Grime. Meanwhile, Hakkasan is hitting back hard with continued residencies from Calvin Harris, Steve Aoki, Hardwell and Bingo Players.
