Start Your Art Collection and Support Local Artists with West Space's Fundraiser

This weekend you can buy art from leading local artists in the name of supporting Melbourne’s West Space. Part gallery, part artist-led collective, West Space is non-profit organisation that was founded in 1993 and offers a diverse program of exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and publications. Sales from the fundraiser ensure West Space can remain rent-free for artists in the future.

This year’s exhibition features work from over 100 artists, across sculpture, photography, drawing and painting. Pieces from established artists will be available for purchase alongside work from emerging locals, with artists including Vivian Cooper Smith, Tully Moore, Sean Bailey, and Xanthe Waite. Priced between $150 to $4,000 the show is a great opportunity for first-time buyers to start building their collections.

“For young people looking to buy work, I would recommend engaging with your own generation of artists—this way, your collection can grow to reflect contemporary practice and Melbourne,” West Space’s Director Patrice Sharkey tells The Creators Project. “It’s also a great way to get to personally know and directly support Australia's next generation of artists.”

The exhibition opens on Thursday April 21 at 6pm, with an exclusive patrons pre-sale taking place from 4pm. The show will continue until April 24.
