But, as he insists, he has Jewish friends so it's coolActor and former I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here winner Christopher Biggins was told to leave the Celebrity Big Brother house on Friday evening. Initially, a fabricated transcript circulated online that alleged he'd made racist remarks about black and Jewish people, which people assumed may have been behind his sudden exit.On Friday, the Channel 5 show had broadcast Biggins telling other housemates that bisexual people were responsible for starting the HIV/AIDS epidemic of the 80s and 90s. According to Biggins' own statement in the Sun, it turns out he was chucked out for making a "joke" about gas chambers to a Jewish housemate – an exchange Channel 5 decided not to air."I am mortified by what's happened, really mortified," Biggins said, after he left the TV show. "Most of my friends, in fact, are Jewish. I apologised to Big Brother and Katie."Dry Parliament
MPS WANTED TO NATIONALISE A PUB TO GET AROUND A DRINKING BAN
Then to also ban the general public from drinking there(via)According to news that broke on Saturday, MPs had thought about nationalising a Whitehall pub near Westminster, to get around a ban on drinking in their new temporary offices. While the Palace of Westminster undergoes refurbishment, MPs have been moved to the Department of Health's Richmond House. That building was effectively bought by Middle Eastern investors, who want it run as an alcohol-free zone.As a solution, some MPs considered nationalising a pub then banning the general public from entering it, before the plan was declined by the pub's owners. A parliamentary subcommittee then ruled out the proposal, according to the Guardian. They'll be needing a plan B now.Shattered Dreams
