Case in point: who wants to count anything while cardio training by jumping rope? Thankfully, user experience designers and manufacturers Tangram Factory have devised the Smart Rope, a high tech "active fitness wearable" with embedded LEDs that keep track of your data by lighting up the air in front of you."Smart Rope makes the actual workout smarter—not just a passive monitoring wearable, but an active fitness device," the rope's Kickstarter explains. 23 LEDs embedded into their proprietary FPCB (flexible printed circuit board) design can display up to four digits, letting users keep track of everything from jump counts, to calories burned, to even interval traning. "As you jump, the LEDs display your progress right before your eyes. They’ll also illuminate as you power on and off the Smart Rope, and provide information about battery life." The tool even features a magnetic sensor—instead of a gyroscope—to provide more accurate realtime data, and connects to Tangram Factory's Smart Gym, an interactive smartphone training app, via Bluetooth 4.0.The Smart Rope is still currently seeking funding to become a reality. Check out images and a video of the device below, and head over to Kickstarter to order a Smart Rope of your own.The Evolution of a Classic - Smart Rope from Tangram Factory, Inc. on Vimeo.Via GizmodoRelated:This Jump-Roping Light Sculpture Never Gets TiredThese Stained Glass Basketball Hoops Are 'Literally Balling'Kayak Oars Create Floating Light Art Vortexes
