Spiced Porridge Recipe

Move over avocado toast, there's a new healthy breakfast that we're obsessing over.
Spiced Porridge Recipe

Servings: 6

Total time: 1 hour


for the porridge:
2 cups|473 ml coconut milk
10 medjool dates, pitted
2 cups steel cut oats
¼ cup chia seeds
2 teaspoons ground turmeric
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
½ teaspoon ground cardamom

for serving:
homemade applesauce
homemade granola



  1. In a Vitamix or high-powered blender, combine the coconut milk, dates, and 6 cups water and purée until smooth.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to maintain a simmer and add in the oats, chia seeds, turmeric, ginger, nutmeg, and cardamom and cook, stirring, until thick, about 40 minutes.
  3. To serve, divide porridge between bowls and top with applesauce and granola. Enjoy!
