'MUNCHIES: The Podcast': We Spoke to Action Bronson About Art, Life, and His Brilliant New Book

"I like to create controlled chaos."

On this very special episode of MUNCHIES: The Podcast, Action Bronson joins us in the VICE studio to celebrate the release of his magnum opus, F*ck, That's Delicious: An Annotated Guide to Eating Well; part cookbook, part manifesto, all Mr. Wonderful.

It's been a very prolific year for the Queens native, world–renowned rapper, and culinary titan who, in addition to his new book, has a new album and multiple TV projects with VICELAND.

Action Bronson and MUNCHIES editor-in-chief Helen Hollyman proceed to discuss a huge range of topics from food pairings to truffles to super-smellers to how Action is living his best life possible, even if it means working like a maniac.

"I can't even begin to understand how I can do so many things at one time," he tells Helen. "I need a lot of things going on at one time. I like to create controlled chaos. I like to always make myself feel like I'm under pressure. Feels good."

Action also shares the multiple inspirations for the book, something that Mario Batali—who wrote the foreword—calls "a map of the inside of Bronson's brain."

If you're familiar with Action's music or TV show(s), that might sound like a bit of a scary place, but Bronson's attraction to the edge is more of a quest for truth. "You kinda lose control of yourself, you lose your inhibitions," he explains. "Something delicious in your mouth is like truth serum."

Two weeks from today, we'll return with Action to dive even deeper, and answer listener questions from Action's fans.

In the meantime, tune in to the latest episode of MUNCHIES: The Podcast to go where no podcast has gone before, and if you haven't done so already, subscribe on iTunes and Soundcloud.
