Crystal Castles – “Wrath Of God”

There’s always been something oddly beautiful about Crystal Castles. Alice Glass’ warbling streamlined through layers of tin canned string techno has always hit a melancholic chord inside of my mind.

The new record has apparently been recorded only onto tape (cool!), after Ethan Kath enforced a strict “no computers” rule. The result is a raw, yet deep cacophony of highs and lows, highlighting the often polarizing world of Crystal Castles.

The band dropped new single, “Wrath of God” onto their Soundcloud page last night, and you can take a listen below. The track leads with a dreamy and haunting intro before delving into some sort of four-to-the-floor verse beat that I’d imagine to be played in some late-night goth club. It’s dark, it’s dingy, and it’s the perfect accompaniment to any afterhours mischief.

The track is taken from their aptly-titled third record III, which will be released on November 4th via Fiction Records.
