If you do your Vice coursework properly you’ll have seen Trinkets of Terror, Martin Parr’s gallery of Osama Bin Laden collectibles in our new issue. Well, Osama may be dead, but his image continues to live on in an endlessly growing number of novelty items and games.
For most people, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the whole War on Terror thing is a big shitty mess that won’t disappear; but if you’re more sentimental and need reminders of the follies of war, why not buy one, or all of Hedwig and Sergeant Major’s featured chess sets of the month?

AFGHANISTAN TALIBAN SET
The Afghanistan Taliban set is masterminded by OsamaRIP. He’s flanked by snipers, RPGs and suicide bombers. He also has this charismatic Queen.
AMERICAN SET
The American set comes with alternate Kings: The deposed former ruler, George W. Bush and Barack Hussein Obama II; who comes with the psychopathic grin of a Socialist war-monger. This set doesn’t say much for equal opportunities though, as apparently the leading American woman in politics who gets to play the Queen in this set, is The Statue of Liberty. More sensibly, their rook is this old guy.
BRITISH SET
Poor old David Cameron clearly hasn’t made much of an imprint on the Canadian military travel game circuit, asthe British King is Tony Blair. Fortunately though, unlike the Americans, we don’t have to resort to naming a stupidly shaped building as our best piece.
IRAQI SET
Saddam seems rather old news, but this guy looks the business.
