College Runner Showboats, Blows Race

Oh, Tanguy Pepiot, you silly, silly steeplechase runner for the Oregon Ducks. My man Tanguy had put himself into a nearly insurmountable lead at a track and field event this weekend and as he approached the finish line he started exhorting the crowd to get up. Get nuts for the steeplechase, everyone! Hands in the air, adore me, your steeplechase champion. Oh, but what tragedy befalls us when we run too close to the sun on shoes of lightweight synthetic fabric and wax? We get fucking burned.

Washington’s Meron Simon tracked him down and overtook the senior from France and won the race. Tanguy’s face at the end is too priceless to exist, but here it is:

Somehow his eyes didn’t completely pop out of his head, which is a nice silver linging, all things considered.
