I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anything like this. Obviously we’ve seen this kind of damage (and worse) from dunks, but this rim just falls right off from a routine foul shot. It makes no sense, really. If one were to make an infomercial for a better way to shoot free throws, this would be the black-and-white segment where our bumbling friend, desperately in need of A Better Way, struggles to do even the most basic task. We’ve all tried shooting foul shots, but don’t you hate when your foul shot completely destroys the rim, knocking it off the backboard and sending it crashing to the ground with the slightest touch? (This is from a girls high school basketball game in Pennsylvania earlier in the week and the broken rim delayed the game for 45 minutes.)
