Christmas came early this year for fans of brutal, noisy electronics. Italian experimentalist Shapednoise (AKA Nino Pedone) just dropped his second LP Different Selves today, and it’s not for the faint of heart.
You may know Pedone as one-third of The Sprawl, the cinematic, sci-fi inspired noise project that includes producers Mumdance and Logos, who they dropped their debut EP last month. Or perhaps you’ve heard his hellish techno productions for cult labels like Opal Tapes. Maybe you’ve happened across tracks from his industrially-oriented label, Repitch.

His new album—out via the UK-based Type Records—features a collaboration with Justin K. Broadrick of the industrial metal band Godflesh, and offers warped interpretations of grime, techno and even drum ‘n’ bass. “Intruder,” which you can hear below, is a great introduction to the Berlin-based producer’s singular aesthetic.
