In case you were unaware: last night, the Cubs beat out Clayton Kershaw and the LA Dodgers 5-0 to take the NL pennant at 4-2 in the series. This was an impressive feat to many, but a life-changing event for those diehard Cubs fans who have certainly been letting you know who they are for the past 12 hours.

The team has ridden out a goat-induced curse for a while now, and last night, people weren’t going to not tell you how long it had been since they tasted the words “World Series” on their lips (or flown the W). To be precise, it was 1945 since they last made an appearance, and 1908 since they last won one.
The funny thing that resulted from this recognition was that it caused thousands of people to simultaneously trace their fingers back through the almanac and handpick factoids to tell you. This is a technique also known as: acknowledging general history. Nevertheless, some good facts and jokes resulted from it:
