Oregon Occupiers Reject Sherif’s Offer of ‘Safe Escort’
The sheriff of the Oregon county where armed anti-government activists have occupied federal land has offered the protesters a “safe escort” out. Leader Ammon Bundy rejected Sheriff David Ward’s offer, but the pair are expected to talk again later today.— NBC News

US Missile Wrongly Sent to Cuba
A US Hellfire missile sent to Europe for a training exercise was wrongly shipped to Cuba in 2014. American officials have since been trying to get Cuba to return the laser-guided missile, which did not contain explosives.— The Wall Street Journal

Iraqi Refugees Accused of Terrorism Ties
Two refugees from Iraq have been arrested on terrorism-related charges in California and Texas, accused of ties to jihadist groups. Texas Governor Greg Abbott quickly called for an end to refugee resettlement from countries “substantially controlled by terrorists.”— The New York Times

Oklahoma Hit by 70 Quakes in a Week
More than 70 small earthquakes rattling Oklahoma in the past week have raised concerns fracking is making the problem worse. State geologists say it is “very likely” the majority of quakes are caused by deep wells created for the industry’s waste water.— USA Today

ISIS Fighter Kills His Own Mother
An Islamic State militant has carried out a public execution of his mother because she asked him to leave the group, say the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The 20-year-old fighter killed his mother, believed to be in her 40s, near the post office where she worked in the city of Raqqa. — CNN

Paris Attack Suspect Hideout Found
Authorities in Belgium believe they may have found the Brussels apartment where one of the suspected Paris attackers hid. Police found traces of explosives, three handmade belts and a fingerprint of fugitive Salah Abdeslam, a French national. — BBC News

South Korea Launches K-Pop Propaganda
As world leaders debated how to respond to Kim Jung Un’s nuclear test, South Korea made it displeasure known by with a barrage of propaganda. Anti-North Korea messages and K-Pop music were broadcast from loudspeakers at 11 sites along the border.— AP

Israeli Troops Shoot Dead Four Palestinians
Four Palestinians, who allegedly attempted to stab Israeli soldiers in the West Bank near Gush Etzion, have been shot and killed. The Palestinian death toll since the beginning of the unrest late last year increased to 149, and at least 20 Israelis have also died.— Al Jazeera

US marshals raided a Chinese company’s hoverboard booth at the CES tech show in Las Vegas. The company’s one-wheeled boards were seized after a US rival filed a patent infringement claim.— Gizmodo

Tarantino Says ‘Fuck U’, Permanently
Quentin Tarantino imprinted the message “Fuck U” at a hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre. The shoes he used mark the cement are replicas of the ones Uma Thurman wore in Kill Bill.— The Huffington Post

Wolf of Montreal Wanted Iron Man Mansion
John Babikian, the Montreal man on the run after selling fraudulent penny stocks, was planning to build a $9 million mansion inspired by Tony Stark. Babikian’s developer says he’s sad the house will now never happen.— VICE
