In the wake of the Cambridge Analytica revelations, Facebook users are beginning to delete their accounts, or at least considering it, if the explosion of the the hashtag #DeleteFacebook on Twitter is any indication
But prophesies of Facebook’s demise are nothing new, and calls to boycott or delete Facebook stretch back more than a decade, when the “Day Without Facebook” was launched in response to the introduction of Facebook’s newsfeed in 2006. (Mark Zuckerberg responded at the time, saying “Calm down. Breathe. We hear you.“)
